Master of Suspence

How doesn't know the work of the great Stephen King. Books you sit up all night reading, movies you watch over and over again. He is one of the world best selling authors in the entire world and has thrilled generations. Here is my top ten list pf movies based on Kings work:

1) Stand by me

The movie Stand by Me from 1986 is the piece of work that Stephen King himself is the most proud of. It is a movie based on a shart story called "The Body" and is about how four friend heads out to find the body of a dead kid named Ray Brower. It is a beauiful and moving film with River Phoenix, Corey Feldman and Kiefer Sutherland.

2) The Shawshank Redemption

Shawshank from 1994 is ranked at number 1 on imdb.com top list and has been nominatat to seven academy awards. It is a movie based on the story "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption" and is actually a prison break movie. Together with directer Frank Darabont, King made a true classic. With Tim Robbing and Morgan Freeman in the lead roles.

3) The Shining

One of Stephen Kings first movies and it scared the world then as it does now. Its from 1980 and has almost a Hitchcock sence to it. A psychological thriller and horror with classic scenes and quotes. Jack Nicholson at his best. "Here's Johnny!!!

4) The Green Mile

A movie from 1999 with Tom Hanks in the lead. Strong, cruel and heartbreaking drama from death row, but still so incredible. Nominated for four academy awards and considered the most famous movie ever made in the genre of drama. With Tom Hanks, David Morse and Michael Duncan. Based on Kings novel by the same name.

5) Secret Window

A paranoia mystery from 2004 based on Kings novel about a writer accused of plagiarism. The accuser, a strange man who then starts haunting him for justice. A suspenceful thriller with a twist. You don't want to eat corn after this one. With Johnny Depp and John Turturro.

6) The Mist

A controversial fantasy directed by Frank Darabont from 2007. A freak storm unleashes a species of blood-thirsty creatures on a small town, where a small band of citizens hole-up in a supermarket and fight for their lives. Suspenceful but with an unexpected ending that will give you chills for sure.

"A masterpiece, one of the most shocking movie endings ever!"

7) It

Proberbly the most traumatizing movie for everyone like myself with clourophobia (abnormal or exaggerated fear of clowns). This was first shown as a tv mini series but has been put together into one long movie. It is about seven young children who has to defear a demonic creature named Pennywise which dresses up like a clown in Maine. Creepy and brilliantly made. A true horror classic. With TIm Curry in the memorable role as Pennywise.

8) Apt Pupil

A boy blackmails his neighbour after suspecting him to be a Nazi war criminal. Directed by Brandon Boyce in 1998. "If you don't believe in the existence of evil, you've got a lot to learn". (tagline imdb) This movie is powerful and realistic with a lot of good elements like extremly good acting. It is a shame that it is not more famous then it is. With Brad Renfro and Ian McKellen.

"Brad Renfro giving one of his strongest roles".

9) The Dead Zone

An other classic made into a movie in 1982. It's about a man who awakens from a coma to discover he has a psychic detective ability. Brilliant thriller from the famous book. A sublime preformance by Christopher Walken as Johnny Smith.

10) Dreamcatcher

Last but not least on my list is The Dreamcatcher from 2003. A modern film about four friends on a camping trip discover that the town they're vacationing in, is being plagued in an unusual fashion by parasitic aliens from outer space. With Morgan Freeman, Thomas Jane, Jason Lee, Damian Lewis and Timothy Olyphant.
